The Rock Dr.

I'm Mario Petrella, aka The Rock Dr. I made my debut on Radio 3 at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation in the early ‘80’s. The first show aired on a Sunday evening competing with Dallas on the local TV station. I remember being told that my listenership would be rather limited as the country used to come to a grinding halt, with viewers glued to their TV sets. I was pleasantly surprised that I got a good following. From time to time, I was also asked to present shows on Radio 1. Access to the Studio required wearing a jacket and tie at all times!!

I am very passionate about being able to play good rock music, without the restrictions found in a commercial radio station. My favourite bands are Pink Floyd and AC DC, and grew up listening to Elton John.

In May 2016 I joined LM Radio where I presented the Early Breakfast Show on a Friday. I also presented two more shows, on Saturday morning and early evening. I left LM Radio in March 2017. In April 2017 I joined Eden AM1368 presenting The Friday Rock Power Play from 8pm to 11pm. The show features the best of Rock music, past to present.

I currently broadcast on internet radio stations worldwide and one local FM station.
